The Hermitage Restaurant and Public House Acle, is situated on the A1064 approximately 500 yards from the A47 Acle Roundabout. It is a family owned and run establishment by Chris and Michele. The Hermitage has been a licensed premises for approximately 110 years It has been refurbished with new kitchens and a conservatory restaurant seating approximately 60 persons.

Today the menu is largely Fresh Fish and Fresh Shellfish with a Speciality Steak Menu. Chris Carter and his family have been associated with the fish trade from Great Yarmouth since 1922. He personally goes to Lowestoft fish market 2 or 3 times a week and buys fresh fish including Dover Soles, Sea bass, Lemon soles, Turbot, Halibut,Trout and Salmon. We have a passion for good food and wine so using the best suppliers and ingredience is vital.

We use the Frary Family from Wells on Sea in North Norfolk for our fresh lobsters and crabs during the summer. In the winter months we have mussels from Morston or the Wash. Local produce is used were possible with many salad and vegetables grown locally for us. Many of our desserts are homemade with fruit we have picked ourselves to ensure quality.

There is also a snack menu with Jacket Potatoes, Sandwiches, ploughman’s etc the lunch menu has traditional English food as well as the special fish. As all our dishes are cooked to order we can cater for many dietary requirements just ask for details. The Evening Menu has at least 12/15 Fresh Fish Dishes, steak, chicken, Pork and vegetarian options. Many of the receipts we have created ourselves.
